Hello, bookish friends!*
Can you believe how far into 2022 we are? It’s officially SPOOKY SEASON. AKA MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR. It’s off to a rocky start personally and professionally, but my faith in spooky season is unlimited. I ended up having a surprisingly good reading time the last couple months, despite entire weeks where I didn’t read at all. So…let’s get to those stats!
# of Books Read Since Last Stats Post: 9
Best Book of August/September: The Trees by Percival Everett
DNFs (for now): 2
ARCs finished: 2
ARCS requested/acquired: The limit does not exist and is a constant state of shame because I am SOOOO BEHIND
And how about those goals for October (and the rest of September)?
Well, hope sure springs eternal when it comes to The Booker Prize. I’ve only read a few of the titles so far, but I still hope to read a bulk of the longlist by the time the winner is announced. Unfortunately, one of the books I’ve DNF’d (temporarily) is Glory by Noviolet Bulawayo. And it’s not because I disliked the book - I actually was enjoying it. But as alluded to above, it’s been a bit of a challenging time recently, and I just found myself unable to give this book the attention it deserves. So, I’ll return to it when I’m in a better headspace.
Other than that, I want to make a dent in my backlog of ARCs and I also want to do some serious reading in relation to my pagan/wiccan journey that I began at the beginning of last year. I’ve been feeling a bit lost as of late, and I think re-investing myself in my spiritual journey will help me feel a bit more tethered.
I’ve also been lurking in a few online book clubs that seem absolutely fabulous, so I’m hoping to dive into some of their October picks as well.
Finally, I’ll be continuing my #readwithLLM readalong with White is For Witching by Helen Oyeyemi. Details on that can be found here.
