Hi Bookish Friends! Can you believe it’s almost the end of July? I sure can’t. Instead of doing a monthly roundup, I wanted to share with you a few stats from my July reading as well as a few goals I have for August reading. I’m going to be totally honest here and say that I’m not very good at TBRs, because I’m too much of a mood reader. So my goals for August include significantly more books than I’ll be able to read, but will hopefully provide some sort of guide if I get into a reading rut and need a little help deciding what to read next.

So...without further adieu…

Books read in July: 5

Favorite book in July: Evening Primrose by Kopano Matlwa

DNF’d (at least for now) in July: 1

Books I hope to finish in August:

  • Susan by Alice McVeigh (I received a free ebook copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review - come back on 9/5* to see that review!)

  • Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

  • A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James

  • Small Pleasures by Clare Chambers

  • Rainbow Milk by Paul Mendez (come back 9/29* to see that review!)

  • Black Futures edited by Kimberly Drew and Jenna Wortham

Books I hope to read in August:

  • On Home by Becca Spence Dobias (I received a free copy of this book from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review - come back on 8/22* to see that review!)

  • Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth

  • People of the Whale by Linda Hogan

  • My Year Abroad by Chang-Rae Lee

  • The Madness of Crowds by Louise Penny (this book comes out August 24th and I’m already scheduled to use some of my vacation time from work that afternoon - I have something that can’t be rescheduled in the morning, otherwise I was thinking of taking the whole day - to get my copy and start it)

  • True Love by Sarah Gerard

  • The Chosen and the Beautiful by Nghi Vo

What were your favorite reads in July? What are you hoping to read in August?
