June and July 2022 Stats and August 2022 Goals

Writer's picture: Little Literary MomentsLittle Literary Moments

Good morning, bookish friends! It’s been two months since my last stats/goals post and whew! What a two months. I probably say this every time, but work has been so stressful and I go back and forth between reading as an escape and feeling like I have no time to read because everything is on fire ALL THE TIME.

All that being said, I’ve had some GREAT reads these past two months. For…instance…I’ll get to my favorite in the stats, but I can’t wait that long to say OH MY GOD HAVE YOU READ Writers and Lovers BY Lily King? BECAUSE I. AM. OBSESSED. I consider myself a writer (or at least a wannabe writer) and this book single handedly re-ignited my passion for the craft.

So, without further ado…let’s get to those stats.

Best Book: Writers & Lovers by Lily King

DNF’s (for now): 1

Books read (since last post): 17

Re-reads: 2

ARCs finished: 4

And how about those August goals?

Well friends, as usual I have probably bitten off much more than I can chew in my reading life. I am super behind on my #20booksofsummer challenge, which ends, you guessed it, in August. The ones I have read are:

  • Outline by Rachel Cusk

  • Writers & Lovers by Lily King

  • The Cartographers by Peng Shepherd

  • The Verifiers by Jane Pek

The one I DNF’d is:

  • True Story by Kate Reed Petty

And the ones I’ve started and am still reading are:

  • Box Hill by Adam Mars-Jones

  • The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

  • Heads of the Colored People by Nagissa Thompson-Spires

  • Another Country by James Baldwin

So, a few I haven’t even touched. I’m hoping to finish at least the ones I’ve already started, and maybe a few more. I definitely won’t be completing the whole list.

I also want to get back to doing my “Followers Pick My TBR” but haven’t selected the two options (even though I’m currently writing this on the evening of July 30th - whoops).

I’ll also be reading Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel as this month’s #readwithllm.

Finally, I’ve started to read the Booker nominees, and am trying to follow the schedule suggested by KDBooks (check out his video here). Which means (if I can stick to the schedule, which I think we’ve already established I cannot), by the end of August, I’ll read:

  • Booth by Karen Joy Fowler

  • Trust by Hernan Diaz

  • The Colony by Audrey Magee

  • Maps of Our Spectacular Bodies by Maddie Mortimer

  • Treacle Walker by Alan Garner

  • The Trees by Percival Everett
