Good morning friends! I know I missed the last #readwithLLM post, but I’m back! And I’m so glad to have read this short story collection with you? Anyone else here a Lily King stan? Five Tuesdays in Winter* is the second book I’ve read of hers this year and I. Am. Obsessed.
Here's what I envision with these posts. I've come up with a few questions that I would love your thoughts on, but I also want to open up the comments for any questions or thoughts you have. I do reserve the right to remove any comments that are offensive or hateful, because my goal is to foster a community of readers here, where folks are encouraged to share their thoughts and literary experiences.
So, without further ado, here are my questions and curiosities:
Did you have a favorite story? Were there any that you disliked?
How did the structural elements of the stories impact your reading? I was particularly in love with the way she played with time in a few of the stories. For instance, the ending of “When in the Dordogne” is possibly one of my favorite short story endings of all time because it manages to span an untold amount of time after a story that was focused on one particular moment in time.
What was your reaction to the child characters in the book? To me, many of them seemed malicious, and I’m curious what that was meant to symbolize?
Was there a central theme that is woven throughout the stories?
Will you read King’s other books?
