Greetings, bookish friends, and welcome back to another #ReadwithLLM discussion post. I don't know about you, but Girl, Woman, Other is for sure going to be one of my favorite books of the year, and I can't wait to discuss it with you.
Here's what I envision with these posts. I've come up with a few questions that I would love your thoughts on, but I also want to open up the comments for any questions or thoughts you have. I do reserve the right to remove any comments that are offensive or hateful, because my goal is to foster a community of readers here, where folks are encouraged to share their thoughts and literary experiences.
So, without further ado, here are my questions and curiosities:
What were your original thoughts/impressions of the book? If you knew anything about the book to start, did it meet your expectations?
Whose perspective did you find the most compelling? Why?
What did you think of the book's structure? Were there any sections you thought should be situated differently? Any you wish were longer? Or thought were too long?
How did Roland's perspective in the first part Chapter Five impact your feelings towards the book?
Obviously much of this book is an exploration of gender - what is the importance of the symbolism of Morgan, who defies gender binaries and identifies as nonbinary, being the presumptive heir to the farm that we learn is destined to go to a "male" descendent (at least as hoped for by Grace)?
What is the importance of/meaning behind the title?
Did the epilogue impact your reading of or feelings towards the book at all?
Did you like the book? Will you recommend it to others?
