Greetings, friends! And welcome back to another #readwithLLM Discussion Post! Well??? What did y'all think of One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston? I'll be honest and say this wasn't exactly my favorite read of the year, but I thought it was the PERFECT summer read, and I am so glad we got a chance to read it together.
Here's what I envision with these posts. I've come up with a few questions that I would love your thoughts on, but I also want to open up the comments for any questions or thoughts you have. I do reserve the right to remove any comments that are offensive or hateful, because my goal is to foster a community of readers here, where folks are encouraged to share their thoughts and literary experiences.
So, without further ado, here are my questions and curiosities:
How did the incorporation of different songs/musical artists effect your reading of the book? Did you know many of the songs that were referenced? Would a different level of knowledge of that music change how you read those scenes where music was integral?
Did you like the dual storyline that included August's uncle? Was that storyline necessary? If you liked the second storyline, did you envision it ending differently? (Can you tell I have some THOUGHTS on that?)
Which characters were your favorite? Why? Were there any that you wished had more time on the page?
What did you think of August's character arc - ending with her working as a private investigator?
I'm not a big sci-fi/fantasy reader, so time travel isn't something I encounter much in the books I read. For those who see more time travel - what did you think of the time travel in this book? Was it explained well? Did it work the way it should in the narrative?
Did you like the book? Will you recommend it to others?
