Hi Bookish Friends!

Okay, so remember how our schedule said this post would come out at the beginning of November? Well - at least it's coming out in November (barely). Life got away from me for the last month-ish, but I still wanted to get this post out when I could.

This #readwithLLM was different than it's ever been - two books, neither of which were fiction (at least, not really), to be read in conjunction with one another. And one of them involved coloring! The first was The Tales Behind the Tarot* by Alison Davies and The Tarot Coloring Book by Mary Greer. I'm going to be honest with you - this didn't quite live up to my expectations. I was really hoping for a deep, memorable dive into the world of tarot (as a tarot mostly-newbie). But, as with the last #readwithLLM, I think sometimes that can lead to the best discussions.

Here's what I envision with these posts. I've come up with a few questions that I would love your thoughts on, but I also want to open up the comments for any questions or thoughts you have. I do reserve the right to remove any comments that are offensive or hateful, because my goal is to foster a community of readers here, where folks are encouraged to share their thoughts and literary experiences.

So, without further ado, here are my questions and curiosities:

1.) If you are a tarot newbie (or close, like I am), did these books provide you with the tarot foundation you were hoping for?

2.) If you're already deep into your tarot journey, did these books offer any insights that you haven't had previously? Did you find them consistent with your learning up until this point? Do you think these books are good for beginners?

3.) With regard to The Tales Behind the Tarot, did you find the structure of each suit an effective way for learning the meanings of each card?

4.) One aspect that I did like of The Tarot Coloring Book was that it listed the various colors and their meanings of the card, but then asked/encouraged you to use the colors you most associated with the particular themes of the card. Did you find yourself using the traditional colors or going with your own instinct? (Or did those two things overlap?)

5.) Do you plan to continue on your own tarot journey?

6.) Bonus Question: If you've read other books about tarot, what are your favs?
